CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CHEERLEADERS!!!

Against all odds the girls won 2nd place in their division on November 8, 2009 at Strahan Coliseum, San Marcos!! Click on their webpage link above for more details.

Rookies came off another bad start losing the kickoff return, but the defense held their ground and got the ball back after 4 downs. Offense then takes the field and loses the ball on a bad snap to the Wildcats. This was just the beginning of the suspenseful back and fourth battle between these two teams. Wildcats scored before the half and the Wranglers would go into the second half down 6-0. Third quarter the back and fourth battle continues and was scoreless by both teams. Rookies gave it their all the final quarter, scoring early in the quarter to tie the game 6-6. Then with an onside kick they regain possession, followed by a few good runs to get deep into the Wildcat's territory. Wildcat's coaches called a timeout trying to put a halt to the momentum that the Rookie Wranglers were building, but it did not stop them from pushing forward as Duvon Jones runs the ball into the endzone for the winning touchdown. The Defense had no problem holding off the Wildcats like they had done all game and the Rookie Wranglers end the game winning 12-6.

Wranglers get an opportunity to be a part of the TV Series "Friday Night Lights". A crew filmed some of the young ones in full uniform and coaches and parents on the side line like it was a real game. Details to the air date will be announced at a later time. On location was actor Steve Harris from The Heist, he also played many other well known roles. Also Jurnee Smollett from Roll Bounce.

Rookies upset the JYSF Longhorns in the first playoff game 40-0. They started off the game receiving the ball, but unfortunately lost the ball to an onside kick. Upset Coach Franklin yelled to the defense as the stepped on the field, "Give them NOTHING!" They did exactly that, Longhorns could not get pass the defensive line and the Rookies immediately regained possession of the ball after four downs. With what seemed to be like more penalties against them in this one game than the whole season and even after 2 touchdowns were taken back because of penalties, Rookies shutdown the Longhorns barely giving up any yardage or first downs the whole game. The defense even put up 3 points from a safety on a punt kickoff, when the kicker was sacked in the end zone. Next playoff game will be Novermber 21st, details to come.

Congratulations to the Flag, Rookies, Juniors, and Seniors for making it to the Playoffs!!!
